Our manifesto
Neurum comes from an old pain, revived and revisited because of the post-AI world: human beings spend a whole life learning, absorbing knowledge, reading, watching. Collecting references and lived experience. Through aging and through memory, much of it is lost over time and for lack of tools. There has never been a place where we could keep all of our references of knowledge, of reflections, of books, articles, stories, art.
Now, with AI, keeping our references with precision is possible. A tool that should let every person explore and recover their own human depth, for themselves and for the world. I believe this is a great opportunity for humanity to go deeper into itself. To deepen relationships and connections between people.
Recovering our references is recovering our own history, but also the stories that defined us. Passages from books and texts, small curiosities, an interpretation of a scene in a film, a personal story lived. Everything that builds us and that we love to share with friends and family.
Our references are the foundation of our cognitive process: they ground our decisions, widen our view of the world, generate empathy for other people and history. At the same time, our references are deep, they end up staying in our subconscious and part of them exist in an ethereal way. They are what compose our subjectivity and our own humanity.
If you, like us, know there is something inside you that you learned but cannot evoke clearly for yourself and for the people around you, we understand. And we are here to work on that pain.
Ironically, the human decision process is more and more delegated to the machine. The process of reading, capturing references, making decisions, judging, creating. All of it, in the name of productivity, is delegated to machines. But we believe that this is exactly what makes us human.
No, we are not against autonomous and productive AI, but we recognize the problems it generates: the possible increase of inequality between countries, the dissociation of society from work, unemployment, among other themes we will have to live through before we can speak about them with depth.
Until then, we propose using AI under a different lens: instead of dehumanizing human relationships, expanding and deepening them.
We hope to help people eager for their own world to keep everything they want, forever, and share it with whoever they want. Not opinions, not tweets of 140 characters, but reflections and deep experiences, from wherever they may come.
